Venue Review – Sheepy Meadows

Sheepy Meadows is a brand-new tipi venue set in Sheepy Magna, Leicestershire. Located on a rustic, working sheep farm, and surrounded by rolling fields, this venue has such a welcoming feel and incredible opportunities for photos.

The venue is composed of 3 giant kata tipis & a chill out tent. Once you step onto the decking and through the huge wooden doors you are greeted with high peaks, wooden beams and two huge, dried flower chandeliers hanging from the roofline. The open plan space is a brilliant blank canvas and would work well with any colour scheme. Seating up to 150 people for a wedding breakfast & evening buffet this location would work well for different party sizes. As a tipi venue they offer weddings throughout April-October as it will be taken down during the winter for storing, cleaning and prepping ready for the next year.

This venue is in a great location if you have family/friends throughout the Midlands, it is around 30-45 minutes from the cities of Birmingham, Leicester, Nottingham, Derby and Coventry. There are close links to the M42, M69, M1 and A5.

The Package

As part of the venue package, you get exclusive use of the tipi space, fairy lights throughout (which make for a great showpiece when the sun goes down - plus it means you don’t have to hire those as extras from a stylist), wooden trestle tables and cross back chairs or benches, a wooden cake table, fully serviced bar, dancefloor space with directional speaker system, complimentary car parking, toilet facilities, heating, mains electricity and the wonderful countryside surrounding for photos.

Ceremonies

At present you are unable to hold your civil ceremony on site, however you are able to still say your vows on site using a celebrant. Celebrant lead weddings are not currently legally binding ceremonies, and you would need to head to the registry office or your a church to conduct this part of your marriage. The grounds of this venue scream ‘outdoor ceremony’ and would look great with either chairs or haybales to create the perfect aisle and backdrop for your vows.

Supplier details

The only supplier which you must use when booking Sheepy Meadows is the caterer, as they work exclusively with Saffron Catering. Everyone else is entirely up to you. They do however have a collection of recommended local suppliers should you require any guidance. This includes photographers, florists, cake makers, videographers, entertainment, venue styling, and anything else you desire!

Food & Drink

I couldn’t possibly do a venue review without touching briefly on the food. Now I will point out I haven’t personally tried this (yet!) but I am a very visual person and love a good menu. The menu that Saffron Catering have on offer sounds wonderful. With a selection of hot and cold canapes including mini beef burger crostini, tomato & basil bruschetta and mini pork pies. Banquet meals to suit all requirements, their menu even has on it the veggie and vegan options. Evening buffet options including BBQ, Hog Roast & pizza. Personally, they had me sold when I read they have a dessert platter - brownie, profiteroles and cheesecake all on one plate, yes please!

Accommodation

The venue is unable to offer any accommodation on site so they advise that taxis are pre-booked due to the location of the property. They have a list of recommended local hotels, B&Bs for you to stay nearby overnight as well.

Final words

If you are looking for a venue with a fresh feel, somewhere you can be at one with nature and a place to party the night away then Sheepy Meadows is definitely one to go see. Pictures really do not do this venue justice. I highly recommend that, if you’ve made it to the end of this blog, have a nosey on their website and if it takes your fancy get a viewing booked in, as I am certain that dates will fill fast over the coming years.
